Director/Senior Director, Alliance Management
Location: Hybrid

Reporting to the CBO, the Director/Senior Director Alliance Management will lead the management of Code Bio’s strategic alliances and will be responsible for driving internal alignment, maintaining and fostering internal and external relationships, providing strategic perspectives, and proactively identifying risks, challenges and opportunities that need to be addressed in alliance relationships.  The role is responsible for ensuring that day-to-day operating requirements for all alliances are effectively managed and performance objectives are achieved. 

The person in this role will develop and maintain relationships with all individuals involved in each alliance, both internal to Code and with the external partners.  The person will plan and coordinate implementation activities with the alliance partner, resolve related issues and regularly provide updates to Code Bio’s Executive Team and/or Board of Directors.   The person in this role will effectively interface with internal stakeholders and advisors in the technical, manufacturing, regulatory, legal, and finance disciplines to enable operation of each alliance.  

The individual may also contribute to term sheet discussions, financial analysis to value opportunities, and contract negotiations for potential collaborations with selected third parties as required.  As part of the CBO’s organization, the individual may also be asked to support BD operations, external engagement plans at BD conferences and other strategic initiatives from time to time.

 

Responsibilities
1.) Lead activities occurring across the alliance life cycle for all Code Bio strategic alliances:
  • Contribute to deal team following term sheet drafting in order to input to ongoing obligations for new alliances

  • Implement successful alliance launch for new alliances

  • Lead the resolution of operational-level conflicts

  • Plan, implement and monitor operational activities of alliances in conjunction with internal teams as needed

  • Maintain organizational alignment and contribute to resource management processes to ensure alliance work is adequately resourced

  • Proactively identify new opportunities for relationship building or expansion within an existing alliance

  • Establish and maintain relationships within and across organizations

  • Monitor cultural fit with alliance partners and adapt processes where necessary

 

2.) Lead Alliance Governance Processes:

  • Implement an operational model relevant to Code Bio’s strategic alliances

  • Lead interactions/steering committees with alliance partners by developing agendas, setting priorities for discussions, capturing meeting minutes and tracking/following up on actions

  • Track progress and provide updates to Code Bio Executive Team on a regular basis

  • Support or lead alliance negotiations/re-negotiations throughout the alliance lifecycle

  • Ensure orderly transition/transformation of alliance (e.g. Termination)

  • Form strong partnerships with Code Bio functional areas involved in each alliance (technical, regulatory, legal, finance, and manufacturing)

 

3.) Alliance Management Capability Building:

  • Bring best practices for alliance management activities and develop alliance management capabilities at Code Bio

  • Develop fit-for-purpose, scalable processes and ways of working for Code Bio

  • Maintain database of key alliance transactions and scientific value drivers across alliances

  • Attend relevant industry scientific and/or medical and partnering conferences

  • Perform other duties and requirements as assigned

Education and Experience
  • 10-15 years life sciences (Pharmaceutical and/or biotech) industry experience required

  • Experience managing strategic alliances and research collaborations with external partners required

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams spanning Discovery, Development and Commercialization preferred

  • B.A./B.S.  degree required.

  • MBA or science related graduate degree preferred
