Research Scientist: Assay Development (R&D Team)
Location: Hatfield, PA
The research scientist is a key member of the dynamic Discovery Research Team focused on non-viral genetic medicines using our novel 3DNA scaffold technology. This role will require you to develop cellular and molecular assays, and work on molecular characterization of biomolecules. You will lead the work with one of our development partners to adapt assay formats and assess complex conjugations of genetic payloads.
Responsibilities

Work independently and a part of an interdisciplinary team to evaluate non-viral genetic medicines using the company’s novel 3DNA scaffold technology

Develop cell and molecular assays to assess potency and durability of genetic payloads

Molecular characterization of biomolecules including peptides, proteins, and oligonucleotide conjugates

Work with development partners to adapt various assay formats to enable characterization and assessment of complex conjugations of genetic payloads and disease specific targeting agents multivalently linked to our 3DNA scaffold

Collaborate and manage projects between industry, academia, and internal partners

Design and test protocols for transfer to the R&D team

Maintain data acquisition and analysis in electronic laboratory notebook
Education and Experience
-
A degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences with 5+ years of assay development experience in a pharmaceutical industry setting

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills

Ability to work independently and multitask in a highly entrepreneurial environment

Cell and molecular assay development experience

Experience with various plate-based assay screens (i.e., fluorescence, luminescence, and/or ELISA)

Experience with qPCR, ddPCR and other qualitative and quantitative nucleic acid analysis methodologies
Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Experience with molecular characterization assays and methods

Experience with biomolecules and chemical interactions

Ability to design, coordinate, and initiate multiple assay formats to assess potency and functional viability
